What happens: Tibino says hello and walks you around Old MacDonald's farm. You meet Pip the chick, Foxy the fox, Storm the puppy and the farm animals — Daisy the cow, Woolly the lamb, Rosie the piglet — with their names and their sounds. There is singing, and an invitation to come along on the adventures.
Why the first episode has no plot
It was tempting to start with a story. We didn't, for a simple reason: a two-year-old cannot follow a plot about characters they have not met. Recognition comes first. If a child already knows that the small yellow one is Pip and that Pip is easily startled, then later — when Pip stays on the riverbank instead of going into the water — that moment means something.
So the first episode does one job: it makes five faces familiar. Everything after it can then be a story.
Why the characters look the way they do
Tibino
A straw hat, blue dungarees and no shoes at all. The bare feet are deliberate — they make him look like a child who has been outside all day rather than a small adult. The hat is the recognition anchor: even at thumbnail size, that silhouette is unmistakably him.
Pip
Round, yellow, and much smaller than everyone else. Size is characterisation here: Pip is the one the others look after, which gives every other character a chance to be kind.
Foxy
A fox who walks upright on two legs and juggles apples. In stories, foxes are usually sly; ours is a show-off with no cunning in him at all. He performs because he wants company, and that is his entire arc.
Storm
Golden-brown, round, ears that fly out sideways when he runs. Built to look like he cannot hold still — which pays off in Episode 3, where his first instinct is to go.
What your child picks up
- Names and faces: five characters, each introduced separately and shown clearly.
- Animal names and sounds: cow, chick, lamb, piglet, fox, puppy.
- The shape of the place: barn, field, path, fence. Knowing the geography helps a toddler follow later episodes.
- A song to join in with.
Good to know before you press play
- Runs about two minutes — short on purpose, so it can be watched twice.
- Nothing to be scared of at any point. No conflict at all in this one.
