Tibino is the boy the whole farm belongs to — although he would say it belongs to everybody.

Where Tibino lives

The farmhouse by the water trough

Tibino lives in the little house beside the red barn. The path from his door runs past the water trough and down to the pond, and he walks it barefoot every single morning.

About Tibino

Tibino is about three or four years old. He wears a straw hat with an olive-green band, a cream shirt and sky-blue dungarees — and no shoes at all, because grass feels nicer on bare feet.

He does not explain his world so much as show it: arms wide open, always first at whatever is new.

What Tibino is like

  He is brave because he wants to know, not because he wants to prove anything.
• Honest when things go wrong
  If he breaks something he says so at once and loudly, instead of hiding it.
• Looks after the smaller ones
  Pip on his shoulder, Milo in his arms — it is automatic with him.

  And then answers for them, as though they had replied.
